‘It girl’ Chloë Alyshea Emily’s personal style is very close to our heart. When it comes to merging minimal high fashion with urban street culture she does it better than anyone else. She also has the most impressive taste in sneakers and runs the tasteful THRLD magazine.
Who are you?
My name is Chloë Alyshea Emily and I live in The Netherlands.
What do you do?
I see myself as a digital creative running my own online magazine THRLD since 2013, together with my boyfriend Jordi (@bienphilty). As a graphic designer/illustrator he does the visual aspect of it, I take care of the daily content. It’s a magazine inspired by the street culture and urban youth, covering the fields of art, music and fashion. Besides running my own online magazine, I’m a photographer as well and like to collaborate with upcoming brands and artists. My Instagram account (@chloealyshea) functions as a creative outlet for me, where you get to learn me in a more personal way.
Also, at this moment I’m busy with a new personal project launching very soon, I can’t tell you too much, but I’m super stoked about it. Keep track on me if you want to find out more about it.
Where do you live?
I live in Eindhoven, located in The Netherlands.
Describe your personal style.
I’m not led by trends, but find it more interesting creating an timeless look with basic, minimalistic pieces, all with an urban vibe to it. I have a weak spot for bold shapes, quality materials, contrasting structures or small details. Most of the time you can find me in oversized, boxy silhouettes and multiple layers in black, white or grey (and sometimes a little hint of color to keep it fresh). And a classic pair of sneakers ofcourse.
What inspires your style?
My style gets inspired by the movement between high fashion and streetwear. Both worlds seem to blend more and more, resulting in a whole new subculture/movement. This inspires me every day.
What are your favorite places to shop?
Next to my routine like &Other Stories, COS and Weekday I like to visit VIER (Antwerp), Avenue (Antwerp), Voo Store (Berlin), The Goodhood Store (London), Opening Ceremony (London) and Wood Wood (Berlin) once in a while. Oh, and, surprisingly, you can find me most of the time looking for new pieces on menswear departments. Just because menswear clothing have so much better fits and are clean most of the time. I can’t with all the girly flowerprints or tight shapes, it isn’t working for me.
What are your current favorite street wear labels?
adidas, Supreme, Harmony Paris. (Although the last one isn’t really a streetwear brand)
What was your most recent purchase?
A grey duster coat from Topshop and socks from COS.
What beauty products do you recommend?
I’m not really into beauty products, but I swear by my Inimitable Intense mascara from Chanel, and, ironicly, by the always low-priced HEMA beauty products as well. Their cleansing milk, day crème and eyeliner are one of my favorites. (HEMA is a typical Dutch retail chain)
5 items you can’t live without.
My iPhone, Canon 5D Mark II, lipbalm, white sneakers and Bambi, my cute mini-hamster.
